A TEXT POST

Are You are Blogger?

As I was browsing social media articles (something I do on a daily basis), I came across an article that suited the state of mind I was in earlier today.  It was an article regarding how to blog.  Since I have never blogged before, I was clueless of how to begin.  Yes, I understand that I am supposed to write something but coming up with something to write about was a struggle.  I sat in front of my computer screen for almost an hour trying to conquer this blog, when suddenly this article appeared.  It was like magic! Let’s discuss what it had to say.

Blogging can be terrifying…do you agree with this? I know I do (or did) before I read this article.  Talking about blogging in class the last few times has been a huge cause of stress for me.  Everything else that we have talked about and all the other assignments we have been assigned I have had previous experience with.  This, not so much. So why was I completely stressed out over writing this blog? Because I was unfamiliar with it.  As a a general rule of thumb, when something is unfamiliar or when something is new, we usually don’t take well to it.  We often tense up and fight about it, or even leave it behind and never think about it again. Unfortunately for me, if I did this, I would get an F on this assignment.  That wouldn’t fly well with me.  So what did I do, I just started writing.

When I started writing, words started to come to me and sentences began to flow.  I thought to myself, whoa, this is out of control.  I was familiar with the topic of social media (which is what these blogs are supposed to be about), but I was not familiar with the blogging platform. To be honest, I hadn’t even read a blog before this. Since blogging is a form of social media, I decided to write my first blog on my thoughts and feelings about blogging.  I can’t tell you how to successfully write a blog, but I can tell you that once you get started, it is hard to stop.

As I was reading over the article, it stated that some people think blogs should be less than 250 words. They also stated that some believe blogs should contain between 400 and 600 words.  Do you think there should be a requirement to make a blog successful? I think a blog should be however long you want it to be. But, I do think it should be relatively short and simple.  We, as readers, don’t want to read a novel.

After writing this post, I found that blogging is a lot easier than I anticipated.  The articles I found helped ease my mind and successfully complete this blog.  I would like to know if anyone else had a hard time writing their first blog? What did you do to overcome that hardship? If you have blogged more than once, did you find it easier and easier to begin the blog?

Happy Blogging!

  12. noirmatrix answered: I have to agree, I’m not much of a blogger my self but blogs should be fun! Otherwise your readers will just think its too long and not read.
  13. oldschoolnewtricks answered: Adam. There’s no need to complicate a simple thing. Blogging is telling a story using interesting words and images. Not complicated.
